HelloFresh moves into new headquarters “Fresh Campus” in Berlin
2021 presented itself with many opportunities for HelloFresh to celebrate: the 10 Year anniversary, launching in two new markets (Norway and Italy!), entering DAX and many more.
Another reason to celebrate - and a much anticipated moment - was the move to our new headquarters in Berlin. With construction finished earlier this summer, Fresh Campus opened its doors for the teams of HelloFresh Global and DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) employees in September.
Our new headquarter Fresh Campus is located in the vibrant district of Kreuzberg.
Fresh Campus, our new homebase, which brings almost all HelloFresh employees in Berlin under one roof, features:
Six floors from the underground car park to the rooftop terrace
16,000m² of office space
1,046 height-adjustable desks with a two monitor-setup and ergonomic chairs
65 meeting rooms with all new video conferencing system for cooperative work
50 phone booths for undisturbed calls with our colleagues in New York, Sydney, Copenhagen and all over the world
There are no permanently assigned desks. Our neighborhood system lets employees choose a new desk every day to allow for maximum flexibility.
Fresh Campus also includes a culinary kitchen with twelve workstations where our colleagues from the recipe development team create delicious meals for the German, Austrian and Swiss markets. Right next door we’ve built a “family kitchen” where we invite consumers to cooking trial events which help us to optimize our recipes and make our customers love them even more!
The inner courtyard is the perfect place for some fresh air during the day or a party at night. This picture shows the Opening Party we held in September.
Continued growth path will lead to hiring more people
But why did we have to move from our beloved Backfabrik offices, where HelloFresh had thrived and grown for the last six years? Already in 2017 we realized that executing on our ambitious growth strategy would require expanding our workforce massively and would consequently lead to an overcrowded, far too small office in the mid-term. Just recently we have announced that we will double the size of our technology team, by hiring 1,000 new people for HelloTech. The majority of these new colleagues will be located in Berlin.
The cafeteria is only one of many areas in the office that allow for relaxation.
An office that makes you feel at home
To provide our employees with a workplace that offers maximum comfort levels, we are building a 400m² gym with cardio, weight-training and stretching areas, a gaming room to spend breaks on the Xbox or Playstation and two kitchens on every floor that offer cereal, fruits and of course vegan alternatives to milk and yoghurt.
To catch some fresh air for a well deserved break or to enjoy one of the numerous planned and spontaneous after-work hang-outs, Fresh Campus offers a wide variety of outdoor areas: our very own courtyard, a backyard with community garden, 18 balconies, a vast balcony terrace, and a huge rooftop terrace. Secured car and bike parking spots are available in the parking garage in the basement, while public transportation is just a stone's throw from the office.
Parents at HelloFresh benefit from the Fresh Farmhouse Area located on the 2nd floor, which offers different entertainment possibilities for children of all ages including a nap area. Parents can book a desk in the adjacent working area which will allow them to keep an eye on their children while they work.
A restaurant, a coffee shop and a bar will occupy a significant part of the ground floor, facing the adjacent street. There HelloFresh employees, neighbours and passersby will mingle with a cup of coffee or a bite to eat until late in the evening.
Our front desk team is happy to welcome you at the main entrance and to show you around the new building.
Sustainability at the core of our business and our building
Sustainability is a central part of HelloFresh’s business model and we strive to always act as sustainable as possible - across the business. As we are transitioning most of our offices and fulfillment centers across all the markets that we operate in to green energy, FreshCampus has been sourcing 100% renewable energy from the very first day. We also save on energy by equipping desks with an easy-to-use button that will deactivate all of the appliances (like multiple screens for example).
As soon as the weather allows we will plant raised garden beds for our team to grow their own vegetables and indulge in a bit of urban gardening. The backyard garden is planned as a refugium for birds and insects and come spring we will design it to be as hospitable as possible.
Welcome to Fresh Campus!
