HelloFresh receives award for sustainability efforts
In the course of this year's International Supply Chain Conference, HelloFresh came in second for the Supply Chain Sustainability Award. The award ceremony was presented by the German and Austrian Federal Associations for Logistics (Bundesvereinigungen Logistik, in short BVL) for the ninth time.
The BVL annual award for best practices in sustainability is intended to make "lighthouse projects" known in the global supply chain community and encourage other sustainability initiatives in business and science. The award honors projects and solutions that excel in three pillars of sustainability: ecology, economy and social responsibility.
HelloFresh was runner-up with its overall concept of optimizing packaging solutions and reducing food waste.
Some of the highlights included the self-developed cool pouch made from 100% recycled paper and the water based ice-packs, both of which assure the delivery of fresh ingredients at the perfect temperature.
“We are very proud that our sustainability measures were recognized by the BVL industry association. We are happy to have been awarded second place”, said Tilman Eichstädt, Senior Vice President Sustainability and International Product & Procurement at HelloFresh. “The award serves as further motivation to step up our sustainability efforts and impress the jury even more next year.”
Ifco Systems, a leading supplier of reusable packaging for fresh products, was also runner-up. The overall winner Transgourmet was awarded for being a sustainability pioneer in the food service market.
